Encephalartos kisambo 10 cm C.D.
Encephalartos kisambo is an easy to grow to grow plant, which prefers light shade, and has a long tap-root, so a deep pot is preferable. Frost sensitive. Established specimens tend to retain several heads of leaves, all in good condition, thereby forming an exceptionally decorative cycad.
CITES Appendix: 1Encephalartos kisambo grows in southern Kenya, in open evergreen cloud forests on steep mountain slopes.
This medium-large sized clumping cycad grows from 2.5 to 4 metres trunk height, and can grow multiple stems. Its dramatically erect leaves can grow to 4 metres long, making it one of the most spectacular cycad species.
The Kisambo Cycad is an easy to grow plant, which prefers light shade. It develops a long tap-root, so for the plant's long-term growth it is best to plant it in the ground. It prefers to avoid a hard frost.
